God is moving His kingdom forward. He is building His church. We see it locally, domestically, and internationally. Scroll down to check out all the things God used WHBC to do in 2020 and 2021.
Evangelism booth at Dixie National Rodeo – February 2021
WHBC sent a team to the Dixie National Rodeo in Jackson, MS to share the gospel at a booth that was set up and hosted by the Mississippi Baptist Convention Dept. of Evangelism. This event was in partnership with Wyoming Cowboy Ministries. The team shared three minute testimonies with anyone willing to sign up for a chance to win a Utility Terrain Vehicle (side by side) and all who were willing to listen.

Mexico Mission Trip – April 2021
Alaina Weeks, Rebekah Calvert, and Lauren Russell went to Oaxaca Mexico. Alaina spent a month there, working with the IMB missionaries located in Oaxaca. Rebekah and Lauren went for a shorter time in support of the trip.
Mexico Trip Report:
I am so grateful for the opportunity to go and serve with the missionaries of Oaxaca, Mexico. This opportunity challenged me, encouraged me, and gave me many ways to grow. I was able to see first hand what the Lord is doing in the city and in the surrounding villages.
The missionary families serve in different local evangelical churches and partner in ministry and discipleship there. In addition to that, each family chooses two villages to intentionally take the gospel. Ministry is very personal here. They form friendships with the people, and through those friendships, they are able to initiate conversations and study of scripture.
While I was there, I was able to serve with them and assist in whatever ways needed. I was able to attend church, go to the villages for Bible studies, visit a children’s home and play with the children, and help teach in the elementary schools. I got to visit with the missionaries and hear their stories of how the Lord had placed them in Oaxaca. I was also blessed to be able to babysit their children and do crafts with them. I learned much about the culture – their religious beliefs, the political dynamic, the family structure, and their way of life. My translator was a big part of teaching me about life there and became a good friend.
This opportunity broadened my perspective as to how important international outreach is both for short and long extents. God can use teams and individuals to bless the people and the missionaries in very practical ways. I’m grateful for West Heights and your support in equipping me and for First Baptist Oxford in their ability to enable and send me.

Brazil Mission Trip – July 15-25, 2021
WHBC Partnered with FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-OXFORD, MS
Brazil Trip Report:
The 2021 Brazil missions trip was a great success! I invite everyone to experience this life changing trip. West Heights partnered with others like 1st Baptist of Oxford, Pioneer Missions and IMB to build and support a new plant church in Juaneiro, Brazil. The Ministry team included medical, backyard vbs, evangelism and builders who helped complete their new chapel.
We saw over 200 people for medical care, provided medications, sunglasses, personal care kits, and a Bible for everyone. Each one heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Seeds of love were planted and many were saved and healed. Many agreed to participate in discipleship follow-up. The chapel’s dedication service was a time of spirit-filled worship!
Thank you West Heights for allowing me to be your extended hands and feet of Christ. Your prayers and gifts had eternal impact. The gifts like stickers, crayons, dumdum suckers, and the personal care items were sharing the love of Jesus.
The eyes of gratitude and the smiles of the children said it all!
Glory to God,
Tammy Shelton
