D- Groups

What is a Discipleship Group (D-Group?)

Here at West Heights, our goal is to live out the great commission in Matthew 28:18-20. In that Scripture, we are called to make disciples; one big way we do that is through discipleship groups and this is how a discipleship group is defined.

A d-group is a small group of people (3-5) of the same gender that comes together for 12-14 months. In that time, they take God’s Word study it daily and apply it to their lives so that each grow spiritually by growing closer to Him. The group holds each other accountable, encourages each other, and helps each other walk in obedience to what the Lord shows them in His Word! The goal of the d-group is to replicate into more d-groups.

A d-group is not a small group or topical Bible study (there is nothing wrong with those, but that isn’t what a d-group is.) It is diving into God’s Word individually and then coming together as a group to discuss what the Lord has shown you. The goal is to always be a part of a d-group and continue to grow spiritually more and more along with making more disciples that make more disciples each year!

What to do if you feel led to start a d-group?

  1. Pray (Pray for the Lord to lead you to others to disciple or someone to disciple you.)
  2. Ask those people that the Lord shows you, to pray through if they would be willing to commit to being in a d-group! (It does take a commitment to want to grow in your walk with the Lord.)
  3. Pick a Bible Reading Plan (suggested year long Bible Reading Plans: One Year thru the Bible or Foundations 260)
  4. If you have questions or need help, please feel free to reach out to Bro. Ryan or one of the other staff members.
