Mission Statement

The Faith Family of West Heights Baptist Church will commit to Love God and Serve People.

“Jesus answered him, “The first of all commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, The Lord is one.  And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’  This is the first commandment.  And the second is, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12: 29-31

We seek to accomplish our mission by:

1. Creating dynamic Worship experiences.

We were designed to worship our Creator.

“Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” – (Psalm 29:2)

Other Scripture: Psalm 95:6, Ephesians 5:18-20

2. Developing healthy Disciples of Jesus.

We express our love for God by following Him as His disciple making other disciples.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  – (Matthew 28:18-20)

3. Encouraging dedicated Service to the church.

We express our love for God by our service in the church.

“Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.” – (Psalm 100: 2)

Other Scripture: John 12:26, Matthew 5:16

4. Promoting deliberate Ministry to the world.

We express our love for God and others by intentional acts of ministry.

“For you, brethren , have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love  serve one another.”  – (Galatians 5:13)

Other Scripture: Mark 9:41, Matthew 25:40, James 1:27

The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper has deep theological and spiritual meaning. In Luke 22:19 Jesus tells His disciples that they are to observe this ordinance in remembrance of Him. Thus the overarching truth is that it is a time to remember what Jesus did for us, as 1 Corinthians 11 tells us that whenever we take it we proclaim the death and return of our Lord.

As a church family we will partake of the Lord’s Supper on December 27, 2020 as an act of worship during the morning worship services. If you are a church member who is joining online due to COVID, in order to participate with us during the service we encourage you to contact the church office (662-489-1200) to pick up the elements or have them delivered to your house.

Walk to the Manger

This year our church will have a special service on Sunday, December 20, 2020 for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. During the service you will have the opportunity to drop a special offering into the manger at the altar. Even if you have already given, you will still be able to participate in this special expression of giving and stewardship. You will simply drop an empty envelope in the manger that has the amount that you gave on the outside of the envelope. We hope that you and your family will spend the next couple of weeks prayerfully considering giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.

What is the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering?

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® is an annual offering collected by believers around the world to support international missions. The offering was officially named in 1918 by Woman’s Missionary Union in honor of the missionary to China who urged churches to start it and give sacrificially.

This offering is unique from other mission offerings in that 100% of gifts provide for missionaries all over the world. It is a valuable part of Southern Baptists’ 175-year history of reaching the nations with the gospel and vital to reaching the vision of a multitude from every language, people, tribe and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 7:9).

Virtual VBS 2020

Look up—way up. That’s where we’re headed. Where I-beams float effortlessly high overhead, carefully guided into place by powerful machinery. Where steel and glass converge in a colossal design that appears to almost touch the sky. During Virtual VBS, kids will discover that Jesus’ love provides a foundation that will last. When the storms of life come, they’ll need the One who will be with them to the end of the age. When anxiety sets in, they’ll need the assurance that true worth comes from being a child of God, not from what other people think about them. When they feel unworthy, they can remember that Jesus loved them enough to die for them. They’ll learn to be wise builders who continue in what they’ve learned and firmly believe. And they will discover that He who began a good work will be faithful to carry it on to completion. We’re all a work in progress. Life is a hard hat zone. But just wait ‘til you see what God will do!

The age groups will be broken-down as follows:

-Pre-K (3-4 yr. old) and Kindergarten

-1st and 2nd grade

-3rd and 4th grade

-5th and 6th grade

We will all come together in the Main Session where we will worship through song, learn our bible verse and bible story for the day. Then your child will watch the video fo their age group, make crafts, do activities, and have some fun during recreation time. There will be more communication sent out via email as we get closer to time. Please sign up to guarantee that your child receives a Packet to take home to make it easier to do crafts, activities, and so much more….

Missions T-Shirt Fundraiser

West Heights has two teams that will be going international on mission trips this summer.  These teams are fundraising to help cover the cost of those trips.

*** Shirts are soft material.  Soft shirts are a tad less generous of a fit than a normal t-shirt.  They are nicer, softer t-shirt, but if you are between two sizes I would definitely suggest choosing the larger one! ****

ALL FUNDS RAISE ARE SPLIT EVENLY AMONGST TEAM MEMBERS!
