Easter Sunday 2021

We are looking forward to worshipping together this Easter Sunday. Our schedule for this Sunday is as follows:

8:00 AM – Early Worship Service

9:30 AM – Mid Worship Service

11:00 AM – Late Worship Service (Live streamed)

We are expecting a larger crowd and we want to make sure that we are prepared. Please take a few minutes and let us know how many people in your family will be attending and what service you are planning to attend.

Winter Weather Statement

Out of an abundance of caution tomorrow morning, Sunday, February 21, 2021, we have decided on the following plan.

8:30 am Early Service CANCELED

9:45 am Sunday school CANCELED

11:00 am Late Service (In-person & Livestream) – Will take place!

1:30 pm – Come & Go Baby Shower for Erin Claire King – Will take place!

5:00 pm – Deacon’s Meeting – CANCELED

As of 8:00 am on Saturday, the church’s parking lot still has a significant amount of ice covering the ground. Even with temps rising into the 40’s today, we are not confident that it will all melt before refreezing tonight. Temperatures are supposed to be above freezing by 9:00 am tomorrow. We realize that we have members spread out over Pontotoc county, and every road will not be clear by tomorrow morning. If you would like to join us at 11:00 am tomorrow for in-person worship, please use caution to make sure you can safely get to the church; if not, stay home and join us for worship through live stream.

Mission Statement

The Faith Family of West Heights Baptist Church will commit to Love God and Serve People.

“Jesus answered him, “The first of all commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, The Lord is one.  And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’  This is the first commandment.  And the second is, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12: 29-31

We seek to accomplish our mission by:

1. Creating dynamic Worship experiences.

We were designed to worship our Creator.

“Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” – (Psalm 29:2)

Other Scripture: Psalm 95:6, Ephesians 5:18-20

2. Developing healthy Disciples of Jesus.

We express our love for God by following Him as His disciple making other disciples.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  – (Matthew 28:18-20)

3. Encouraging dedicated Service to the church.

We express our love for God by our service in the church.

“Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.” – (Psalm 100: 2)

Other Scripture: John 12:26, Matthew 5:16

4. Promoting deliberate Ministry to the world.

We express our love for God and others by intentional acts of ministry.

“For you, brethren , have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love  serve one another.”  – (Galatians 5:13)

Other Scripture: Mark 9:41, Matthew 25:40, James 1:27

*We ask that you continue to follow social distancing and consider wearing a mask as move around the building*

The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper has deep theological and spiritual meaning. In Luke 22:19 Jesus tells His disciples that they are to observe this ordinance in remembrance of Him. Thus the overarching truth is that it is a time to remember what Jesus did for us, as 1 Corinthians 11 tells us that whenever we take it we proclaim the death and return of our Lord.

As a church family we will partake of the Lord’s Supper on December 27, 2020 as an act of worship during the morning worship services. If you are a church member who is joining online due to COVID, in order to participate with us during the service we encourage you to contact the church office (662-489-1200) to pick up the elements or have them delivered to your house.

Walk to the Manger

This year our church will have a special service on Sunday, December 20, 2020 for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. During the service you will have the opportunity to drop a special offering into the manger at the altar. Even if you have already given, you will still be able to participate in this special expression of giving and stewardship. You will simply drop an empty envelope in the manger that has the amount that you gave on the outside of the envelope. We hope that you and your family will spend the next couple of weeks prayerfully considering giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.

What is the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering?

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® is an annual offering collected by believers around the world to support international missions. The offering was officially named in 1918 by Woman’s Missionary Union in honor of the missionary to China who urged churches to start it and give sacrificially.

This offering is unique from other mission offerings in that 100% of gifts provide for missionaries all over the world. It is a valuable part of Southern Baptists’ 175-year history of reaching the nations with the gospel and vital to reaching the vision of a multitude from every language, people, tribe and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 7:9).

Missions T-Shirt Fundraiser

West Heights has two teams that will be going international on mission trips this summer.  These teams are fundraising to help cover the cost of those trips.

*** Shirts are soft material.  Soft shirts are a tad less generous of a fit than a normal t-shirt.  They are nicer, softer t-shirt, but if you are between two sizes I would definitely suggest choosing the larger one! ****
